the man in the moon

Well the man in the moon smiles in June
Cause June is the time for lovers
He sits on rainclouds and laughs at the crowds
Of couples running for cover
Oh what a fortune to be the man in the moon
In the starry night skies of summer

Well just you and I one night in July
Went walking above the treetops
We danced and we sang and we laughed and held hands
And we ran cross the switchbacks and creekrocks
But now it's November and the air's full of timber
And all that we had is lost

The man in the moon is laughing still
He knows no wind can blow him ill

Well the man in the moon smiles in June
Cause in June the tune calls for dancing
He whistles in time to love on the climb
While the bluebirds sing out on the wing
He knows all below can bask in his glow
And summer's love song can ring

The man in the moon he laughs every night
He drinks in the darkness and laps up the light
The man in the moon is laughing still
He knows no wind can blow him ill
